One's Best Friend

Instead of focusing on their personal growth, some choose to share their time, training and effort with their pets. While these people are sometimes called "masters", most of those specialized in this branch of combat are, in actuality, "tamers" or even "summoners" depending on the nature of their pet.

Call Pet

Choose a pet category and a damage type (physical or magical) when you take this branch from the list below. Your pet does not count toward your summon limit. It inherits your level and aptitudes. During its turns, it has one action and it uses its basic weapon attack by default unless you tell it to do something else.

When your pet falls below 1 health, it will run away and hide if possible. In this case, it will not be available for combat for (d4 + 4) hours. Otherwise, normal summoning rules apply.

Techniques in the command category are used during your own turns. However, they affect your pet's next turn within up to 1 minute.

Pets can take a variety of forms, but they fall into the four main categories below:

Scout Affinity - Passive Wildbond techniques of utility or modification categories have a +1 to their precision rolls when performed by scout pets.
Strike - Action, basic weapon attack Deals 5 armor-ignoring damage.

Commune

Category: Utility

Duration: 15 minutes
Effect
For the duration, you can talk to a calm animal as if you share a language.

Distract

Category: Command
Against: Evasion
Execution Time: Rapid action
Cost: 2 energy
Range: 5 meters
Duration: (1 + C/3) rounds
Effect
Your pet does not attack. Instead, it tries to distract the target. A distracted creature is considered flanked for the duration.

Find

Category: Utility
Execution Time: Action
Cost: Special
Duration: (30 - 2 x C) minutes
Effect
Your pet helps you or another creature search or find an item of a certain description by using its sense of smell, sight, hearing or touch. Your pet assists the search for the duration. For every two points of energy spent on this technique, the relevant skill roll gains a +1 bonus.

Go For Eyes

Effect
Direct your pet to attack your target's eyes. Your pet's basic weapon attack applies blinded for the duration of this technique.

Grab and Drag

Category: Command
Against: Parry
Execution Time: Action
Cost: 1 energy
Range: 1 meter
Effect
Your pet does not attack. Instead, it targets a prone creature of your choosing. Your pet grabs this creature and drags it towards you up to (2 + P/3) meters, dealing 5 armor-ignoring damage per meter dragged.

Lick Wounds

Effect
Your pet does not attack and tries to heal itself. For every point of energy spent for this technique, your pet heals for (4 + 1d4) health. You can spend up to (1 + P) energy.

Pounce

Category: Command
Against: Parry
Execution Time: Rapid action
Cost: 3 energy
Range: 2 meters
Effect
Instead of attacking, your pet pounces on the target of your choosing, making them fall prone.

Rush

Category: Utility
Execution Time: Rapid action
Cost: 2 energy
Effect
Your pet takes the charge special action. If your pet is a sharpshooter pet, it is instead quickened for 1 round.

Savagery

Category: Offense
Execution Time: Action
Cost: 4 energy
Duration: (1 + P/3) rounds
Effect
Your pet becomes exposed, but it gains a (5 + P/2) bonus to its damage for the duration.

Sweeping Attack

Category: Command
Against: Evasion
Execution Time: Rapid action
Cost: 3 energy
Effect
For this round, your pet's movement speed drops to zero but it attacks two foes adjacent to it.
